Less than 1 minute Read time Minutes

Promotions have been popping all over the internet & the themed cards are at every supermarket you go. The run-up towards Valentines Day is a reminder that the day of love, February 14th is edging closer, adding on the pressure to make preparations that will wow your significant other.

Flowers, chocolates, a bit of jewellery & a trip to the local Italian restaurant down the road is great and all but what about something more personal? Whilst choosing the perfect napkins; glasses, candles & crockery to decorate your table with, it can be said that a true labour of love is the art of cooking! Whether you’d go out, buy or prepare the savoury meal is up to you but you know what they say: there’s always room for dessert!

If you feel like sweetening up your man/woman this Valentines (& probably your Instagram pages), have a gander at some of these delectable dessert ideas you can whip up yourself. Your palate won’t regret it, nor will theirs!

1.Red Velvet Oreo Truffle Brownies

Double the layers for double the fun. Gorgeously soft red velvet, added oreo truffle filling gushed over with chocolate ganache before being sprinkled with mini chocolate chips. It’s the definition of devilish food & we love it!

Mixing & pressing the red velvet cake mix into a deep baking tray is almost soothing alone with it’s Valentine-themed red batter. The truffle filling is decadently made with literally a whole pack of crushed Oreos mixed with butter! The crushing can be done with a food processor or taking a rolling pin to the oreos in a plastic snack bag. Layering it on top of the red velvet is like applying, delicious, chocolate-like cement of happiness. Finalise this creation with the rich chocolate sauced poured over, sprinkled with mini chocolate chips & your beloved will be wanting a whole plate of these for dinner instead.

2. Chocolate-Covered Strawberries

The fruity alternative you can promote as both tantalisingly delicious whilst being one of your five-a-day. Being refreshingly juicy whilst entangled in a creamy; bold & sweet embrace, these chocolate-dipped wonders are like an unexpected match to last for the ages, much like your match with the lovely person you’ll be sharing them with! Try serving them in some Melamine bowls to add that extra flair of creativity to your presentation.

Ease of preparation would be the best thing about this dessert, the hardest part only being melting the chocolate correctly to ensure a smoother melt & making sure your strawberries are nice & fresh. Need a bit more? Add nuts, sugar or however you wish to mix it up a bit!
