Our dedicated supplier of premium and luxury toilet rolls, Tork, has joined our Alliance blog in talking about the results of a new study: advising us to remember to clean particular places we may not think of during our daily home cleaning!
“Many of us are guilty of neglecting everyday items and surfaces when cleaning our homes, according to a new study.
Research by sofa and carpet specialist SCS has revealed the 10 areas of UK homes that are cleaned the least.
Four out of five of us confess to never cleaning our bottle opener, while 67 per cent routinely neglect the TV remote. And two thirds of us never clean the top of the wardrobe where dust particles and dirt can build up.
SCS’s Dale Gillespie said: ‘I was quite shocked to see some of these cleaning figures. Perhaps a bottle opener is something you never think to clean, but when using it to open so many different drinks maybe we should all clean them more often.’
Other surfaces mentioned in the list included mattresses, dining chairs and curtains.
Mattresses should be periodically vacuumed to remove any build-up of dust mites, dust, hair and other biological debris, according to the report.
Wooden dining chairs should be wiped down with a dry or damp cloth to remove grime and dust, while upholstered chairs should be vacuumed using an upholstery attachment. And if not properly maintained, curtain fibres may rot so these need to be regularly vacuumed and also thoroughly washed every few years, according to SCS.
Also featuring in the top ten list of the UK home’s filthiest surfaces were walls, fans, washing-up dish racks and shower curtains”.
