Instanta CT2000 Water Boiler

Instanta’s new “CT” series have taken the proven reliability and robust construction of their predecessors and applied the latest advancements in electrical design and technology to produce a catering boiler which is the most advanced of its kind and yet easy to use and built to last.

Instanta claims its CT2000 water boiler is “packed with green features” including the facility to switch the unit to energy saving ‘Eco’ mode during quieter periods, allowing it to run at half capacity and thereby save power.

Other energy saving features include low voltage switching and a high level of insulation that ensures as much heat as possible is retained within the boiler.

The green features don’t end with the boiler itself: all the packaging that surrounds the CT2000 is completely recyclable. The water boiler is capable of producing a minimum hourly output of 28 litres (50 pints) and an initial draw-off of 12 litres (21 pints).

New Pint Glass Design

Last summer we reported on the home office commissioning a new design of plastic pint glasses for pubs and bars. In an effort to reduce the 87,000 attacks or “glassings” each year, a new design of pint glass is being introduced by the government. This supposedly safer glass will hopefully not only reduce injuries but also the cost to the NHS, which spends £2.7bn a year on alcohol related crime.

Launched by the Home Office’s Design & Technology Alliance and involving the Design Council, two new beer glasses have been revealed. These prototype designs are intended to tackle crime and reduced the amount of glass-related injuries, whilst still appealing to drinkers.

David Kester, of the Design Council says…

The British love their pints of beer, we wouldn’t want to take someone’s enjoyment and pleasure away. This is not a silver bullet. It is one idea that can make a significant difference. We hope to save lives and reduce suffering.”
