British Food Fortnight Can Boost Business
Hoteliers looking to capitalise on the nationwide publicity surrounding British Food Fortnight are already starting to rethink menus, promote local produce and make guests aware of the renewed focus on homegrown food.
An increasing number of caterers across the UK are expected to maximise their profile and boost sales, through their association with the event.
Scheduled for the last two weeks of September and now in its eighth year, British Food Fortnight is the biggest, national celebration of local produce.
TV Pair Opens New Restaurant

Michelle English & Russell Clement - Winners of BBC's The Restaurant
Michele English and Russell Clement, winners of BBC TV’s The Restaurant, are opening their new outlet The Cheerful Soul in the Hare & Hounds, in Marlow, Buckinghamshire, in mid-June.
For the duo, backed by the TVhost and legendary chef Raymond Blanc, it is more than a restaurant launch – it is the first steps to fullfilling a dream as one of nine couples who competed in the second TV series.
Since winning, Michele and Russell have been training with the teams behind Brasserie Blanc restaurants, learning the foundations of successful business, from food costing and accounting to staff recruitment and legal duties.
Mitchell’s Goes Back To School
Award-winning chefs from Mitchell’s of Lancaster have teamed up with local schools in Morecambe to run cookery master classes, teaching children the importance of eating healthy food and introducing them to catering as a future career option.
Catering development manager, Harvey Jones, said: “This is a fantastic way of working with the students and giving them a tastier session on what it’s like to work in the industry. We want to show them that cooking can be fun and that food doesn’t have to be full of sugar or fat to taste nice.”
